Even though John Mayer suggests that “it’s not that we don’t care, we just know that the fight ain’t fair,” I believe that change has to be about more than us waiting on the world to change.
Much of the time, all change requires is someone willing to step up and lead.
Last week, I was talking with a local community leader who expressed his dismay over the limited results achieved by past efforts at economic development in local, underprivileged communities. “There are lots of people who want to make change happen,” he said, “but very few who go beyond words of concern. Intentions often don’t translate to action.”
The solution? Action.
One person with a persistent commitment to action can make a profound impact and their energy can go a long way to enlisting the support of others.
